Individual or family psychotherapy session

After the initial consultation, the psychotherapist and the patient conclude a psychological contract: an oral agreement between the psychotherapist and the client on the intention to carry out psychotherapeutic work within the framework of certain mutual obligations. A number of appointments required to achieve results are jointly defined based on the therapy request.

During therapy, the primary request (the problem as it was formulated in the initial session) may change or become irrelevant. As a rule, this is due to a shift in the focus of the patient's attention to other aspects of life that were not previously noticed and which turn out to be more significant.

The context of life is as important to psychotherapy as the request. This context is a system or relations and events in which the patient lives and which significantly affect their life. And problems that usually make the patient apply for psychotherapy, rise from the context of life. Here's the point: unable to modify the context, we can gravely modify the association with it—having weakened the impact of specific factors, securing more freedom and independence.

To clarify the context, your therapist will ask you questions about your life, family, relations, biographical facts, and more.

• Patients under 16 years old are admitted with the consent of a parent or legal representative.
