Procedure goal
Xenon is immune from biotransformation, i.e. when it enters the body, it does not change, does not react; and is completely excreted from the body intact. Non-toxic, xenon does not cause allergic reactions, has no side effect; and is excreted from the body through the lungs intact. In medical practice, highly purified medical xenon is used.
For therapeutic inhalations, the xenon concentration varies from 20 to 35%. First, a doctor talks to the patient to introduce the latter to the procedure, explain its goals and therapeutic effect. During inhalation, there may be unusual sensations in the body, like "goose bumps", decreased pain sensitivity, numbness, heaviness in the legs, feeling of lightness of the body, feeling of flight, loss of significance of previously disturbing problems, changing perception of the "body scheme." It is recommended to relax as much as possible and abstract from bothersome thoughts. A face mask is fixed on the patient's face either by a mask holder or by the patient themselves. The patient can stop the procedure at any time by removing the mask.
